  DONATIONS AND SPONSORSHIPS

Bisinella in the community:

Bisinella Developments has a long history of active community development and support.

As a family business, we feel a strong connection to our local community in Lara and the Geelong region.

We have undertaken many projects for the benefit of the local community and have a large portfolio of community donations and sponsorships.

At Bisinella Developments, investing in community development is as much a part of our business as investing in residential and industrial development, growth and jobs.

Facelift for Lara Lake Primary School

Added Feb 24th 2014

The main entrance to Lara Lake Primary School was given a facelift prior to the start of the 2014 school year with the help of a $10,000 donation from Bisinella Developments.

A new fence was constructed along busy Forest Road, a new electronic sign was installed, unsafe trees were removed and new shrubs were planted.

The Bisinella donation covered approximately half of the cost, with the balance coming from  the school community’s fundraising efforts in 2013.

Bisinella gift inspires Lara to preserve its history

Added May 1st 2013

The new Lara Museum and Historical Centre – a unique partnership between Bisinella Developments and community volunteers dedicated to preserving the town’s heritage – opened to the public on Sunday 21 April 2013.

The gala opening celebration, attended by more than 3000 people, followed the official opening ceremony on Thursday 18 April 2013 by the Mayor of the City of Greater Geelong, Cr Keith Fagg.

Under the personal supervision of managing director Lino Bisinella, the Bisinella Developments team lovingly restored and refurbished one of Lara’s oldest historic buildings, the former Lake Bank Hotel, at a cost of approximately $500,000.

Bisinella then leased the property for $1 a year to the local community group formed to operate the museum, Lara Heritage and Historical Inc.

The museum, on the corner of Forest Road and Canterbury Road West, is open to the public from 11am to 4pm on Wednesdays and Sundays. Group bookings are available by appointment.

Mr Bisinella (right) is pictured at the official opening with (left to right) Ian Board, president of Lara Heritage and Historical Inc, Cr Fagg, and an actor playing the part of Sir Henry Barkley, Governor of the Colony of Victoria when the Lake Bank Hotel was built in 1860.

Toys for kids at Christmas

Bisinella Developments is proud to be the major sponsor of radio station BayFM’s “10 Days of Toys”.

No child should have to wake up on Christmas Day without a present. Toys donated to the BayFM Bethany Giving Tree Appeal ensure that as many children as possible across Geelong and the Surf Coast will receive a gift from the community this Christmas.

The appeal benefits nine community groups: Bethany Community Support, Barwon Domestic Violence and Outreach Services, Barwon Youth, Glastonbury Community Services, Mackillop Family Services, Salvation Army Kardinia Women’s Services, St Laurence, Time for Youth, and Wathaurong Aboriginal Cooperative.

For two weeks, BayFM does a series of two hour outside broadcasts to collect new unwrapped toys for the appeal. This includes a broadcast from the Bisinella Head Office in Forest Road, Lara, from 2pm to 4pm on Friday, 14 December.

Lara's Heritage (Lake Bank Hotel)

Added Feb 23rd 2012

In another major contribution to preserving Lara's heritage, Bisinella Developments has donated the former Lake Bank Hotel to the Lara community for use as an historical museum.

Built in 1860 and de-licensed in 1909, the landmark limestone building with the distinctive stone fence, located on the corner of Forest Road and Canterbury Road West, was purchased from John “Jack” and Brenda Darcy in 2010. It had been home to Jack’s family for five generations.

The museum will be established and operated by Lara Heritage and Historical Inc.

As part of the subdivision of the two acre property, the homestead and land made available for the museum and car park were valued at more than $800,000. In addition, we are spending more than $400,000 to extensively renovate the old buildings and construct the car park – making our gift to the Lara community worth more than $1.2 million.
